Metal Bulletin's LME Guide
This seventh edition of what was formerly Wolff's Guide to the London Metal Exchange seeks to continue the excellent service which was offered to the now-esteemed experts. Covering the operations and use of the London Metal Exchange, Metal Bulletin provides a seamless continuity with the earlier works, again using Trevor Tarring, a former editor of Metal Bulletin and also the author of the last two editions of Wolff's Guide to the London Metal Exchange, to update this book.
With expert input from an LME ring dealer and key factual information from the LME's own Rulebook, this is your essential and up-to-date practical guide. This compendium of information covers all the necessary topics – from the management of risk and regulation of the industry and market analysis to coverage of the base metals and an extremely interesting section on historical background. Not only that, it has been brought up to date to encompass the surge of new contracts on the LME such as plastics, steel, molybdenum and cobalt contracts. The many appendices include a glossary and directories of warehouses, assayers and samplers and members.
About the Author
Trevor Tarring’s career with Metal Bulletin has gone from cub reporter (in 1953) to non-ferrous editor of the journal, then chief executive and finally chairman of Metal Bulletin plc at his retirement in 1999. In that time he could claim more experience than most in acting as a fly on the wall to the high-value, vital, exciting and sometimes unbelievable actions of those who make up the international metal trade. He took a special interest in reference prices, whether from futures markets like the LME or Metal Bulletin’s own price discovery activity, and their place in the operation of period pricing contracts. He was awarded the MBE in 1992 for services to the non-ferrous metal industry. Since his retirement and Euromoney’s later acquisition of Metal Bulletin, he has continued to be actively involved in writing and editing textbooks, articles and conference papers on his favourite subject. This first edition of Metal Bulletin’s Guide to the LME follows in the footsteps of six editions of Wolff’s Guide to the LME since 1976, with all of which Trevor Tarring was involved either as editor or author.
